Sunday’s meeting in Offaly will be the third meeting of these sides in the final in four years, with Carnacon winning both finals and now looking to make it three out of three against the Cork club. The 2007 meeting in the final saw Carnacon win out by 11 points on a score of 2-14 to 1-6, while in 2008 putting back to back titles together Carnacon won by five points to seal their double.

The opening match of the new Mayo League season will be the Charity Shield final between the Elverys Super League winners Ballina Town and the Chadwicks Cup winners Manulla FC. This match will take place in Milebush Park on Easter Sunday at 3pm.

Even with the upheaval in management over the last two years the Mayo players have managed to pull through and claim two Connacht titles, a national league title, and make it to an All Ireland final. So Reidy knows that he has the talent at his disposal to make a serious challenge for honours this year.
